The highlight of my career as a Boatman was having the opportunity to work with one of the best crew programs and coaches in the rowing community.
For years I worked at Harvard University under renowned coach Harry Parker. With the Harvard crew, I traveled to Korea, Taiwan, and England. On numerous occasions, we attended the Henley Regatta. I also went to U.S.-based regattas—too many to mention here. At this point in my career, I was well over normal retirement age, but I was happy to be working with Harry. It was the learning experience of a lifetime. After many years of service, I felt it was finally time to retire. Little did I know how those years at Harvard would help me in my life to come!
A year or so before my retirement, a new boat came into our boathouse. It was different in shape, color, and the way it moved through the water. I was constantly lifting it and checking it for stiffness in comparison to the other shells we had in the boathouse. It amazed me at how light and stiff the boat was and how it really stood out from the others. It was a truly unique product. This was my introduction to Resolute.
A short time later I was invited to go to the Resolute manufacturing facility to speak with the owner of the company. Ten years later, I'm still here. To those of you I already know, I’m happy to serve you. To those of you I haven’t met yet, I look forward to being able to assist you in any way I am able.
