Casey and Gene will be at the Head of the Hooch in Chattanooga, TN this weekend November 5th and 6th. They will have the new Resolute Long Sleeve Tee’s that made such a hit at the Head of the Charles. Stock is limited so make sure you stop by early and grab yours before they are gone.
Her photograph is on our website splash page, is the profile picture on our Facebook and Twitter pages and is now on the back of our business cards.
The woman behind the shades is 2011 World Silver Medalist W4x Natalie Dell of the US Women’s Rowing Team. She took some time out of her busy schedule to stop by our tent and have her pictures taken with herself (!) and some of the members of Team Resolute.
When we got back into the office on Monday our Marketing Manager, Leann found this e-mail in her in-box.
Hi Leann,
We met this weekend; I'm the "model" on your business card! Just wanted to let you know it was nice to meet the Resolute team briefly. For being a bit of a poster child, I really don't know anyone at the company aside from John (who arranged the photo shoot at Riverside).
It must have been 3 years ago when we took those pictures - I was slogging through grad school, had minimal experience coming from a collegiate club team, and was fighting my way up in the club rowing scene. Making the national team seemed absolutely absurd. Every time I see those pictures, it brings me back to those days and reminds me of how great of a journey it’s been!
-Natalie
Now that is the type of e-mail we like coming home to. And it reminded all of us that with passion, determination, and hard work you never know where this journey called life may lead.

From all of us at Resolute good luck in all your future endeavors Natalie. It was wonderful to meet the Women Behind the Shades!
At least once a Head of the Charles someone will come into the tent looking for the Elena Maria poster. And over the past three years we have always had to disappoint those looking for it. The poster had been missed placed for a couple of those years and when we found it again last year we remembered why we had misplaced it. The poster was badly faded and had seen better regattas.
But first some background. The “Elena Maria” was built in 1997 and is being rowed by Brown. No that is not a typo it is still being rowed. Back when the “Elena Maria” celebrated her fifth birthday a poster was made with the heading that read “The Elena Maria is 5 years old….and still winning.” A couple of years later our Manger of Commercial Operations, Sue Hinckley, was at an event and realized that the poster was wrong. The boat was now 7 years old and still winning. She added a piece of blue tape and wrote the number 7 on it and thus a tradition was born. Every year the poster was displayed the blue tape would be updated.
Libby, from Brown, who rowed the “Elena Maria”, was one of those folks who helped update the poster. This past weekend she stopped by the tent and asked after the poster. She was of course disappointed that we didn’t have the poster displayed but she did share this great photo with us.
In January 2012 the “Elena Maria” will be 15 years old. She is still in Brown’s fleet, still being rowed and still winning races.
In honor of her 15th birthday we will have a new poster made for display at the 2012 Head of the Charles. And in 2013 the tradition will continue….more blue tape on the poster to mark off her years being rowed and winning. Libby, we hope you stop by!

Get out and enjoy some fall rowing…one spot a bit warmer than the other!
We thought we would share this note that came in through our website.
To whom it my concern at Resolute, reference regatta wins, I picked up a bronze at the Chattanooga Head Race in the senior masters 1X race Oct 8th, I rowed the second best time but due to handicapping third place is where I stand. Oh, this was my first race. After I bought this amazing scull almost a year ago I had Casey give me a few pointers (Casey is awesome!) which together with this incredible Z1 allowed me to progress confidently and quickly. Thank you for such a wonderful product. It got a lot of attention at the regatta, made me feel kinda special. Hopefully more wins will come in the future, I will let you know. Respectfully, Ed Uhrich
The Resolute Team would like to send out a big “Congratulations” to Ed for his Bronze Medal win. Keep up the good work and do let us know about those future wins!!
Jeff Sturges will be at the 2011 New Hampshire Championships in Manchester, NH on Sunday October 16th. Take in some rowing, take in some leaf peeping. It will be a classic fall weekend in New England along the Merrimack River.

As mentioned in this post Resolute has gotten social. In our social media repertoire we have added a YouTube channel.
We have stumbled across some great video on our own but one of the joys we have found from being social is all the great recommendations we have gotten from our Twitter, Tumblr, and Facebook friends.
